From watching her first showcase backstage to stepping up as our newest Student Mentor, Olivia shows what happens when passion meets community.
When you take private in-home music lessons, your living room becomes your music lab. You build technique, learn your favorite songs, and find your voice. But at SoundLife, learning an instrument isn’t meant to happen in a bubble. Music is meant to be shared, and community is where real-world confidence catches fire.
No one embodies this journey better than our November Student of the Month, Olivia Gallego!
The Evolution of a SoundLife Rock Star
Olivia’s story with SoundLife began several years ago. At her very first Student Showcase, she didn’t even perform—she came just to watch. She arrived early, poked her head backstage, helped our team manager Enrique set up his drum kit, and soaked in the raw concert energy from the crowd.
By the very next showcase, she had caught the bug. Taking the stage alongside fellow student Julian, she plugged in, launched into Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” and completely crushed it.
From that day forward, Olivia never stopped raising the bar. She joined her band, GRB, which has evolved into a tight, powerhouse rock unit. On her own, she’s tackled monstrous musical challenges—cracking open complex Soundgarden parts and mastering advanced repertoire that pushed her technique to new heights. Now a senior in high school, she is completely all-in on music, and her growth, grit, and stage presence represent everything we stand for.
Stepping Up to Stage 5: The Student Mentorship Program

Stage 5 is the pinnacle of the SoundLife experience. When a musician uses their skills to empower the next wave of performers, they transition from being a student into being a true leader.
This season, Olivia is stepping behind the curtain as our newest Student Mentor for Showcase #29 on December 5th at El Cid! Working directly alongside Program Director Chris Vazquez and Team Manager Enrique, Olivia is learning the live production industry from the ground up:
Managing family outreach and communication chains.
Processing incoming registrations and organizing the live run-of-show.
Learning digital spreadsheet workflows and professional contractor invoicing.
She isn’t just playing the gig—she’s helping produce it.
Olivia is going to have a busy couple of weeks on stage, and you can come see her in action:
- SoundLife Social: Sunday, November 22nd (Come hang, connect with peers, and jam!)
- Showcase #29 at El Cid: Saturday, December 5th, where Olivia will be:
- Performing with our All-Star House Band
- Rocking a high-octane set with GRB
- Debuting a secret solo performance that we aren’t allowed to reveal just yet—all we can say is that it is going to blow everyone away!
